Leading IT Services and Support provider, PECS has secured a contract with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to develop a web based application for DMRC contractors and the contractors’ workers. The contract was won via a competitive tender process with multiple software companies participating in the tender process.
DMRC is India’s largest and busiest metro and the second oldest after Kolkata Metro. Through a systematic transit system, Delhi metro connects the country’s capital region with Satellite cities such as Gurugram and Noida.
With several hundred thousand workers in their supplier network, inputting and maintaining up to date error free personnel records is a significant challenge for DMRC. PECS will design and deliver an advanced system and solution to manage the data of DMRC contractors and workers. This application will allow digitization of records and automate a key process that has previously been run manually. The web solution will be highly secure and will ensure the security is role based. DMRC contractor will be able to manage their workforce by keying in new worker data and keeping the information updated. Additional business logic would ensure that transparency and tracking of previous workers is maintained, for example where a worker moves from Contractor A to working for Contractor B. Similarly, approval processes in the system will provide DMRC the necessary controls.
The solution will work both Online as well as Offline to allow for situations where the Contractor is not connected to the web. The contractors will access the database and register workers. Each worker would then be assigned a unique ID and an ID card. When the contractor completes the data in offline mode, the data will be synchronized automatically with the central database once the Internet connection is available. Reports and views will allow different roles to query and get the desired information.
